Gilbert, Martin
(b. 1936)
   English historian. He was born in London. He has been a fellow of Merton College, Oxford, and visiting professor at the Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University. His publications include Exile and Return: A Study in the Emergence of Jewish Statehood, The Holocaust, Auschwitz and the Allies, The Jews of Hope, The Plight of Soviet Jewry Today, Jerusalem: Rebirth of a City and The Jewish History Atlas.
